Unprepared: Flyer like you mean it.

Flyering has got to be the most intense, most demanding part of having a show at the fringe and yet, it’s one of the main ways to advertise a new show. It’s demanding and intense because almost multiple times every minute you’re faced with rejection, and with a smile, you need to continue flyering on, with a sociopathic disregard for everyone who hasn’t taken a flyer.

Here’s who to avoid in the 5 hours of flyering I’ve done: headphone people don’t give a damn, avoid at all costs. People running through the streets, they are late for a show. Large groups of people doing a walking tour, sometimes they speak a different language and don’t seem very comfortable in English, the rudest refusals have come from here for me.

I’ve never actually seen anyone I’ve flyered come at the show, but the most excited about it have been older couples or groups of women in threes who’ve smiled (some, even chuckled) when I said “Help Me do my taxes” as I handed them a flyer. Let’s see if any of them turn up as the show goes on.

Honestly, the chuckles itself were golden.
